I recently got a last-minute offer for tix to the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.queenpluspaulrodgers.com\/\">Queen<\/a>&#8221; concert here in LA. I passed. Paul Rodgers might be a very nice guy, and a hell of a singer, but please.<\/p>\n<p>Queen (with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Freddie_Mercury\">Freddie Mercury<\/a>) was one of the Greatest Bands Ever. Certainly the most audacious: A <em>six-minute<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/detail.php?id=685&#038;\">top-forty hit<\/a>? Kick-ass prog-metal (at least the first few albums) for teenage boys, from a bunch of poofters? Who called themselves <em>Queen??<\/em> Subtle as Southpark, that one (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southparkquotes.com\/characters\/token-quotes.html\">Token<\/a>, anyone?). But it never, ever occured to me&#8230; Honest. Listening to the albums, wearing out the grooves, learning the guitar riffs, staring at the sexy\/cool photos of the band&#8230; Eventually, Freddie tossed aside all pretense  and started dressing <a href=\"https:\/\/bornia.com\/log\/img\/mercuryVP.jpg\"> like a Village Person<\/a>. No matter.
